This rack really enhances the looks of my truck. The rack is extremely well designed and sturdy and is suitable both for work tasks like hauling ladders or long pieces of lumber and for fun tasks like transporting kayaks and bikes. I'm not good at putting stuff together but I was able to install the system myself on my truck.(It did take me a couple of hours.)

Would not recommend this product and especially not the seller/shipper Poole and Sons.The product added a great deal of weight to the tailgate and cannot be used with a Tonneau cover, which was not stated in the product's description.Poole and Sons were very poor in communication when I requested a refund, and would not pay return shipping; I paid double shipping costs.When we asked questions, the only response was:Your refund will be through Amazon.I will never deal with this vendor again.

Tradesman TALG581 70" Gull Wing Bright Aluminum Cross Bed Tool Box Review

Let me start with: I know Trademan toolboxes are cheap, and I can't expect Mercedes quality at Yugo prices (hopefully the younger crowd knows what I mean when I say "Yugo").

Anyways, I only needed cheap quality becuase I was going to do some after market work on the toolboxes after I received (e.g. new reinforced locks and add'l weatherproofing).

But, I was surprised as to how poor the locking mechanism was. The lid wouldn't lock when I shut it. In order to lock the lid, you have to hold the handle open, then close the lid, then release the handle.

Quick fixes: Install a stronger spring and add lithium grease between the two moving metal parts.

Also, with the lid closed, the fit & finish between the lid and the toolbox body is poor (small on one side and big on the other).

To me, even with these concerns, this toolbox is worth the price. Over $100 cheaper than most other gull-wing toolboxes. And, this fix is less than $5.

I wanted a visable purple look in my lights and i did notice they were a little brighter not drastically bright, i didn't see the purple. it does a have slight differnt tone than white but not noticable purple. Hope i can find some lights later with more color.

Putco 49882 Boss Locker Side Rails Review

I absoluteley LOVE these rails! They are very distinct in comparison to the ones you see on other trucks out on the road. They do stand out and look great on my 07 Tundra (reg cab). I bought these last year and paid about 25% more than what they cost now. The rail is a very heavy stainless pipe which connects to chrome plated alloy lockers and fit the standard holes in the truck bed. You do have to really crank them tight so if your bed is "cheap thin metal" be careful not to expand the sockets too much.
They also have the regular lockers that are smaller pipes available and would probably look better on the midsize pickups.

CHROME DRAGON LICENSE PLATE FRAME Review

I ordered 2 of these. I really like the way they look. The only problem is the mounting holes are on the top and don't line up with the holes on the front of my jeep because of the built-in frame. I was able to attach the dragon frame to the top of my license plate, and attach the plate to the factory frame at the bottom. It took some doing but it looks great. This is a very good quality frame, and it comes with little pop-in covers to hide the screws.

Delta 850000 Wheel Well Box Review

Product was packed well and shipped promptly. Good seller.

As for the product itself, be warned it is a bit on the light duty side.

I think a crow bar could get into it quite easily. I think by adding 2 more locks, one to each side and welding in some reinforcement bars along the lid it will be sufficiently secure for most applications. Its basically the same guage sheet metal they make standard toolboxes out of. It does have all welded seams. Lid pivots on two bolts with lock nuts on the inside (so attempts to loosen from outside will probably just spin the nut along with the bolt unless they really pry the two apart enough to lock the nut..may weld that too.

Tradesman TSTJ42BK 42" Black Steel Job Chest Review

I buy tons of stuff on Amazon, and normally their packaging is pretty good.This is a big heavy metal toolbox and it is packaged in a flimsy cardboard box that fits the toolbox like a glove.There is a 1/8 inch sheet of foam on top of the box - but that's all there is for cushioning.Basically every corner is guaranteed to get dinged with packaging like that - and that's exactly what happened.

There is also a sliding shelf in the toolbox that is completely unsecured.As you can imagine - it banged around inside the toolbox all the way from China to here.So there's plenty of dimples and pimples all over the box from that.

Otherwise the box is fine.It's a truck box, so I'm not going through the hassle of returning it.I certainly wouldn't get a replacement when this packaging basically guarantees that a replacement will be equally as badly damaged.But, unless you're willing to pay for a brand new box that already looks like you've owned it for three years - I would buy locally.

Tradesman - secure the shelf and put some foam on the corners for shipping!!!Why does every manufacturer in the world know to do this except for you?!?

Tradesman TALFW60 60" Bright Aluminum Fender Well Tool Box Review

First thing, I only paid $173 through Amazon. The same box at Home Depot is about $335. If I had paid $335 I would be very upset. At $173 this product is still a bit of a let down. It is 60" long & the lid doesn't have a hinge, it has -2- 1/4" bolts at the ends. This "design" is soo flimsy you can grab the center of the lid & pull it open with your bare hands enough to reach inside. You wouldn't need to do that because the locking handles (it has -2-, not one like the pic) that are useless to lock.Even though they lock, they wouldn't be able to keep anyone over 100 pounds out. With a good pull up, you can bend the super soft piece of metal meant to slide under the lip of the box. I'm afraid to keep ANYTHING of value in this box until I fabricate some type of locking system.(and hinge).
The shipping as pretty fast for free. The problem was the packing! They put the tool box in a cardboard box & that's it. When I recieved & opened it, the two handles had bent the lid in from being bounced around on them. I was able to pound them out, but thats not the point. Basicaly every flat surface of the box was dented in. A little styrifoam on the corners for shipping & this wouldn't happen.
The finish & welding of the box were very good. All welds had a nice bead & good penitration. It's a shame to do such a good jub on the "bottom" of the box & put such a weak lid on it. Also prepare to buy some mounting hardware. They supply you with 4 large sheet metal screws. I used them to hold it in place while I drilled for the carrage bolts (& loctite) I bought.
All in all, you get what you pay for. If you plan on keeping anything expensive in your box, search for a better system. It's fine for keeping some camping stuff in for a weekend trip though.

Used on my trip to the beach and works very well.Material was good quality. Comes with nice straps and they were a very good length. Folds up nicely for storage.

One Note... Look at the box, as it lists weather restistant. Dirt,Wind and Sun only. There is nothing water resistant about this bag. So if planning to take a trip, stay out of the rain. I loaded mine up and then hit a two hour storm. Corners were soaked from the kick up from the wheels.Had to air dry everything once arriving to my destination.

The grill was good quality.It did have some extra plastic that had to be trimmed other than that the fit was good.Shipping was quick and the price was great.Attaching clips were a non standard size and had to be replaced.

It was about what I expect from aftermarket body parts.You always need some adjustment to make them fit.

Herculiner - HCL1B8 - Brush-on Bed Liner Kit Review

The product appears to be equal to the more expensive comercial spray in products that cost 6x the price. The trade off is elbow grease. You have to prep the bed, and degloss the surface. The small sanding sheet provided would take too long and certainly never do a fullsize pickup. I am skeptical that it would give the surface the scuff it really needs to hold for a lifetime. I used a 5 inch random orbit sander, took my time (4 hours) and then applied the product. It put it on a 2006 truck, and it took courage to sand down the bed thinking if it didnt work well that I just ruined my new truck. The roller that was provided worked well. The handle has a threaded end for a pole so pick one up, as you will need it to recoat the bed when you have completed the first coat and can't get back in the bed. Time will be the utimate test but it looks good, seems tough and worked well. Also pick up a 3 dollar paint stir attachment for your drill. You need to keep the small particles suspended while you are painting on the product. I believe this will easily add several hundred dollars at trade-in time. My effort was worth it.

Curt Manufacturing 13297 Class III Receiver Review

This hitch is for those that want to do it themselves in the driveway/garage. NO drilling, just need WD40, a LONG socket wrench/breaker bar, and a bucket or a wife willing to help.Check out the online video's if you need help on understanding how to install this monster, remember 2004+ Durangos are all built the same underneath basically.

The construction of this bar is very solid and shiny. Seams it would take alot to beak the bar.The include bolts replace 4 of the 6 factory bolts used to attach the bar to the frame. I think these are where the problem would be if there ever was an issue. But after install it is very solid,of course this is only after i did the jump up & down test and there was no indication of movement.

This hitch is POSITIONED UNDER the bumper and not in the notch that is available, the other type of hitch that requires drilling/cutting and bumper removal to install fits there (much harder to install yourself). The look after completion is not bad, but it wasn't what i expected. But hey you have a trailer hitch now right?

Over all i am happy, it does the job, but what i don't like is the exhaust now blows into the hitch becuase it is under the bumper, so it affects the sound of my baby now... and of course i wish it had fit in the notch to make it look uniform. Two of my four fender markers went out on my 2000 Ford Dually. Purchased these to replace all four, the LED lights are a cool option and should last longer then the original Ford ones. Ordered them and requested one day shipping (got them the next day, good job Amazon), after opening the package which contained four lights, a couple of cleaning pads and four single sided tape pads (this I guess goes onto the lamp assembles). The reason I'm guessing is because there were no installation instructions. I returned the item and ordered another set because I thought some items were missing from the package. Well the new set arrived and the same thing, no installation instructions. I'm no rocket scientist but I'm also not the dumbest person in the world either, I could not figure out how to mount them. Not sure if I was to use some of the parts from the old lamp assembly (Ford stock parts) or what. I returned this set also. What would it take to place a single sheet of paper in the box with the installation instructions and a list of the parts that are included? As a side note I went onto the Recon site to see if they had the installation instructions on line and of course they did not. I would not recommend these at all.

On the one hand I like the fact that it's very very light in weight but on the other hand I'm not sure if it's strong enough to support my weight if I stand on it.I know it sounds silly but having mounted the ladder on my van I intend to avoid using it, unless or until I absolutely have to.
The product description mentions a choice of two different styles, but nowhere could I find any more information about that.What I got was an unpainted aluminum ladder which I painted black to match the SURCO Safari roof rack that I have.If I could have chosen a ladder in black I wish I had known.

The hitch seems to be very well constructed. This doesn't matter since the hitch doesn't fit a 1500 Dodge Ram - even though Curt Manufacturing claims it does.

To be more specific, it doesn't fit *my* Dodge Ram. After sending several photos of the issue, many emails, and a long phone call with customer service, Curt Manufacturing said "Sorry, it doesn't fit and we aren't sure why. Maybe you can fabricate a bracket to make it fit, good luck and good bye."

Completely unacceptable.

The backing piece of paper peels off, one then places the decal face down on surface and rubs with credit card, lets it sit for about 10 minutes, then slowly peels off. The letters are thenplaced on the surface.

Note that this is NOT a clear "cling" decal.In other words, if you applied the decal to the inside window of say, your car, it would read "thgiliwt" to anyone looking at it from the outside.

I got exactly the same UWS part number listed in the description of this item.Do not rely on a picture alone to buy a truck box.Amazon could be a little more descriptive for this product though.Measurements are extremely important when buying a truck box so they should be in the description.If you are unsure of what the measurements are for this box go an find the part number elsewhere and make sure you know what it is and if it fits before you buy it.My rating would drop to 4 stars if I were considering this, but I'm not.The 5 stars apply to the product only not the lack of details in the Amazon description.

Anyway, the box itself is of excellent quality.The "structural foam lid" is excellent, very rigid and makes for a sturdy lid that you can use as a work platform.The over-all structure of the box and welds are well done and it's a very solid box.The latches and locks, and hinge are of good quality.I'd recommend a UWS truck box to any of my friends without hesitation.

Installation was pretty easy and didn't take long.

As a seller Amazon is a great place to get this box.Their price was comparable or lower than any other place I could get the box and with the free super saver shipping it comes out well ahead of other sellers.I had my box within a few days of ordering.

I bought this grille from Pershing Auto Body for my 2000 F250.Great price and the grille arrived quickly and in perfect shape.My only complaint is that "argent black" is actually just dark gray.The grille is actually a lot lighter than it appears in the photo and probably should be painted if you are looking for a "black" grille.Still a great product for the price and it came with brand new metal clips for the bottom half.Would be a perfect replacement if you hit a deer, tree, giant yard gnome, etc.

I've had a set of these lights installed on my Ranger for over 6 years.They have taken a monstrous beating, and still light up every time I flip the switch.One of the best sets available on the market, don't go with the little 2-wire sets that all screw into a transformer block.These all run on one circuit (the wire goes from end of one neon to connect to the next rod).Install is probably a shade more challenging, but they are one of the brightest.Highly recommended from someone that drives on less-than-quality roads. ^_^

Pros - Assembly was easy and fast. Rack is rock solid. Doesn't wobble or sway in transit. Rack swings out far enough for truck tailgate to come down. Unloading camping gear with bikes in rack was a breeze. Security cable is a plus!

Cons - The rubber straps aren't permanently attached and don't lock in to their starting position easily. They Lost one right away. Order an extra set. Also- order the quick attach locking bolt. The bolt for the neck of the trailer hitch means you need a rachet set or wrench every time you want to take the rack off. The lock for the security cable is not included.

This was our first rack. We are "occassional" users. (Car camping, local bike trail, etc.) Good rack for us. If you are hauling women's or girl's bikes order the mounting adaptor. Adaptors much less expensive online. We didn't order them with the rack. Rookie mistake. Wish the instructions had some pointers on best way to mount four bikes.

Overall - Great value!

Just came back from a weekend camping trip. Had a chance to compare notes on racks with a couple of people (and check out their bike racks). When I compare what we got for what we paid to what they got to what they paid... we definitely got the better value!!

Highland 10391 Kar Pak Rainproof Soft-Sided Car Top Carrier - 15 Cubic Feet Review

We've had the Highland Kar-Pak since our first family trip to Disney World in 2002, and we've used it many a times since: trips to Disney World, trips to Gulf Shores, a few visits to Texas and, the big one, our evacuation from New Orleans a few days before Hurricane Katrina struck. Not to be overly glowing, but this thing helped us save a lot more since we could cram it full.

It holds a bundle, stores quickly, cleans up easily (bug splatter is no match for scrub brush & water, eh), is arguably leak-proof (never had a problem even through the worst rains), and attaches easily and securely (and not to dismiss another person's review/opinion, but the carrier box clearly stated "Roof Rack Mount"; however, I can see confusion with roof rack and roof bars -- those bars on the roof when you get the van/suv/etc are just styling until you add a cross-bar).

My wife came across this model locally in N.O. when we were searching for something for the roof to carry luggage on our first real driving vacation. We had looked at a lot of the hard-side ones, which were all extremely expensive and sorely lacking in capacity. She found this and we thought it might be a quick-fix but we've used it ever since and have no plans to replace it.

FWIW, a tip: get some big safety pins. Though you can tie the excess strap up it's easier to use a safety pin to pin up the excess. You don't have to, but the excess strap tends to flap in the wind and will drive you a little batty.

Rola 59401 TX 104 Four Bike Hitch Mount Review

A design flaw allows the user to accidentally lock the rack while in the down position. Then, when returning the rack to the up position the lock pin sheers off while bending the main post beyond repair. With two bikes on the rack, raising the rack is so difficult that the slight added resistance of the lock demolishing the main post is barely noticeable. I spent twice as much on my next bike rack ... the Dura ... which is much easier to lower and raise, and does not self destruct.

This is a basic hitch mounted cargo carrier. It comes in a box with the parts wedged in rather than secured together so make sure you check for shipping damage and lost parts. It takes about 15-30 minutes to put together based on your skill. You will need a 17mm wrench/socket or an adjustable wrench to complete assembly. One thing I did have problems with, is the bolt that is in the rear-center. it drags on my inclined driveway and on some speed bumps.

Pros: Effective, solid and cheap!

Cons: Rear of hitch is too low for any kind of inclines. I am going to grind off the inch below the bolt for now.

I have a 2001 Chevy Blazer.I thought that the Sensor would be a helpful aid to me, and decided to have it installed.I took my Sensor to my dealer where I purchased my Blazer to have it installed.

The Sensor would not work.It would display a confused reading, and would not fix on the correct distance. They felt that it was possibly defective. My dealer found out that the company listed on the package no longer owned the Sensor - another company now owns the Sensor. We could not reach someone at first from the company who now owns the Sensor.

I emailed the company who I purchased the Sensor from "All For Trucks", and they were very helpful.They would do one of 2 things.We can have this one picked up and shipped back to the warehouse and send out a replacement or you can place a new order so it ships out immediately and then we will have a call tag issued so it can be returned to the warehouse.Once returned we will issue you a full refund for the first order.

I decided to purchase a second Sensor. (My dealer could then uninstall the first Sensor and reinstall the new Sensor.I had paid around $150.00 now to have this Sensor installed, and didn't want to pay more for the additional fuss.)

I received my second Sensor, and then took it to my dealer to have it installed.It again did not work.My dealer once again tried to contact TechSupport at the company that currently owns the Sensor, and couldn't reach anyone.I finally tried calling and did reach someone, and referred them to my dealer.My dealer told me they were very helpful.

The person from TechSupport there gave him some tests to run and instructions to reprogram the Sensor which ended up not working.He then referred them to someone else at the original firm who owned the Sensor who actually installed the Sensor for help.The person there did call back - which is appreciated - and gave them some further tests to run.It was determined that the Sensor was not compatable with my vehicle - something due to the positioning of my exhaust pipe, which they said sometimes can occur.

So after two lengthy visits, without my vehicle, being in the shop, minus of around $150.00 for installation, and undue frustration, I had to return the Sensors to "All For Trucks".They were very helpful like I said.They refunded my money, but I did not receive a full refund for one of them.I'm going to have to go to the company possibly, because they promote that it is universally compatable with all vehicles.

From "All For Trucks": "Company policy is to refund only the cost of the item you ordered unless a part is defective.The first part you received was defective but the second part was not.I do understand that it ended up not working for your vehicle but according to the manufacturer, this is a universal part and should fit all vehicles.They did not provide us with any guidelines as to it not working on specific types of vehicles."

I would have liked having this Sensor - providing it had worked -which to my dismay it didn't.I could NOT have installed this
myself - the package indicates an easy installation.It can be a long and lengthy process to install, and the instructions are not as helpful as they could be.The company who is listed on the package is no longer the company who owns it.If the Sensor works for you good - but just in case - be warned - of possible aggravation.

Note:I would order from "All For Trucks" again.They have very good and prompt customer service.Commendable.

I bought these to protect my rear bumper on my '06 SUV and they go on easy enough but the adhesive starts to pull apart after a couple of months and the added problem is they are two pieces of plastic which makes it even harder to keep them attached. Not worth the money!

Kargomaster 80020 Ladder Rack Review

This is a great product. I just recently purchased it and installed it. It has been used a lot in just a short time. Instead of hauling a trailer around just throw the ladders, lumber, pipe, etc. on top. The only problems I have were convincing myself to drill holes into my 07 nissan frontier when mounting the rack, and that at around 55-60mph, between the front of the rack and the cab, there is a slight hum or whistle (I don't know if that happens to be a specific problem to certain vehicles or what). Other than that, it is very practical and can be used for hauling many different products.

I've used two different bag carriers in the past.Both were pains to use, especially in winter, when the zippers and fabric were stiff.In those cases, too, the zippers were on top, difficult to reach and stuff luggage.This Rola was a relief for my budget and back.Sturdy aluminum frame in a bottom sleeve that's separate from luggage compartment (although part of a bracket ripped my inner fabric while inserting frame).Flexible soft-side design has allowed me to fit a large family tent, 6 sleeping bags, about 6 duffel/backpacks, and 3 folded air mattresses (easily stuffed from one of 3 zippered doors with weather flaps).On my 04 Durango, with crossbars, installation was simple and allowed enough room alongside for 6 camp chairs. I deducted a star b/c fabric ripped and instructions were poorly written.I love the collapsibility and provided rain fly.Although I was searching for a reasonable shell carrier, this seems like it is a better value. Smart design!

This seemed like a great solution to my dilemna.I have a Jayco pop-up camper and I wanted to use my hitch-mounted bike rack to take bikes while camping.Once you attach the hitch ball, the second hitch receiver isn't high enough to place the bike rack in before hooking up the trailer.There's not enough clearance.You have to hook up the trailer first and then insert the bike rack.My pop-up camper has the standard wheel on the tongue of the trailer to raise and lower the tongue of the trailer and it does not lower such as some boat trailers.It stays vertical and is right where the bikes would hang from the bike rack so when turning it would more than likely hit the bikes.Not to mention my propane tank for the trailer is also right there.I'm sure it works great for a boat trailer.If you have a boat trailer and are considering this, try looking on ebay and buy them used from those that tried it with a camper!I'm giving it a 2 out of 5 since it does what it claims, just doesn't seem to be universal.
