Let me start with: I know Trademan toolboxes are cheap, and I can't expect Mercedes quality at Yugo prices (hopefully the younger crowd knows what I mean when I say "Yugo"). Anyways, I only needed cheap quality becuase I was going to do some after market work on the toolboxes after I received (e.g. new reinforced locks and add'l weatherproofing).
But, I was surprised as to how poor the locking mechanism was. The lid wouldn't lock when I shut it. In order to lock the lid, you have to hold the handle open, then close the lid, then release the handle.
Quick fixes: Install a stronger spring and add lithium grease between the two moving metal parts.
Also, with the lid closed, the fit & finish between the lid and the toolbox body is poor (small on one side and big on the other).
To me, even with these concerns, this toolbox is worth the price. Over $100 cheaper than most other gull-wing toolboxes. And, this fix is less than $5.
